Human Resources, supervisors and managers are vital to helping you maintain a workplace free from harassment. They are the key to both prevention and correction. In addition to discussing the traps into which HR and supervisors and managers fall regarding their own conduct, this topic focuses on the affirmative responsibilities of HR, supervisory and managerial employees, addressing not only sexual but also racial, ethnic and other forms of unlawful harassment. This course also will examine the change in the law regarding unlawful retaliation and ways to ensure compliance with the law.
    •             Brief overview of the legal definition of sexual harassment
    •             Examples of inappropriate behaviors of a sexual or suggestive nature
    •             Examples of inappropriate behaviors relative to protected groups — race, ethnicity, age, disability, etc.
    •             Risks of supervisory-subordinate dating
    •             Dealing with harassment by clients, customers or vendors
    •             Intent versus impact
    •             Responding to inappropriate behaviors, even in the absence of a complaint
