Finding Talent with the Right Skills and Motivation

    Speakers:  Sherry Sandler, Re-Entry Coalition

                        Christy DiLeonardo, NJ One Stop

Employers indicate that it is difficult to find skilled individuals with the right motivation and behaviors to meet their labor demand.  There are resources available to help you find the hidden market.  Two of the agencies that can help is the Re-Entry Coalition and the One Stop Center.  Learn how and why you want to tap into candidates who have been involved with the justice system, veterans, disabled individuals and long-term unemployed.  Come out and hear from the experts.

    Re-Entry Coalition:

Employers must meticulously select the ideal candidate for a position and be at ease when finalizing such choices. Regrettably, numerous employers frequently disregard an overlooked workforce due to the fallacies and stigma linked with having a history of involvement with the justice system.

Employing individuals with prior incarceration experience offers various advantages. It furnishes employers with proof of fair hiring practices, potentially renders them eligible for tax incentives and complimentary bonding services, broadens limited applicant pools, and diminishes training expenses, particularly when recruiting individuals who have undergone specialized job training during their time in incarceration or under community supervision.

Numerous local organizations are earnestly striving to equip the reentry population for workforce entry. Granting individuals a second opportunity not only benefits the individual but also has the potential to enhance your financial performance. It fortifies familial bonds and contributes to the enhanced safety of our communities.

    NJ One Stop Center:

The One-Stop Career Center provides career services that connect job seekers to employment and training opportunities. The facility is staffed with qualified employment counselors ready to provide specialized services and connect individuals to skills assessments, training and/or education assistance. A wide range of services and resources are available to residents such as job search assistance, access to an on-site resource room, access to job listings, resume development, interview preparation, and job referrals. Youth services are offered as a part of contracted services through contracted providers.
