    A review of the most recent employment laws which require compliance by employers of all sizes including the new New Jersey Wage Theft Law, New Jersey’s Salary History Ban, the “Anti-Arbitration Act,” expanded application of the New Jersey Family Leave Act, non-compete/non-disclosure agreements and recent case law updates.

    The Essentials of Hiring and On-Boarding

    This section will cover recruitment and hiring resources and processes (job description; posting/advertising), interviewing (sample questions), employment applications, background checks, offers, post offer processing and on-boarding.

    Notices, Training and Handbook Essentials

    Notices required upon hiring, employee compliance training, handbook policies including disclaimers, anti-harassment/discrimination/retaliation policies, complaint processes and investigations, no expectation of privacy policies, wage and hour safe harbor.

    How to Practice Safe Benefit Management

    Understanding eligibility rules ( Plan documents vs handbook vs “but we’ve always done it this way”), Timely enrollments, Qualifying events, Cobra events, LOA traps (Workers compensation, STD, LTD), Other traps (Life insurance waiver of premium, LTD waiver of premium & claims, Voluntary life/ltd portability, waiver of premium and claims)
