Part 1 - Year In Review/A Look Ahead
Between the presidential election, the Olympics, and Brexit, 2016 has been a busy and tumultuous year. The first half of the program will focus on significant developments and emerging issues in the world of workplace law, including recent Supreme Court decisions that impact employer/employee relationships, the evolution of transgender and LGBTQ rights, work/life balance trends, the generational shifting in the workforce, marijuana law developments, and other trends on a national level, as well as what may be in store for 2017 in light of the election results.

Part 2 - Update on Marijuana Legalization Efforts in NJ and Personal Liability and the HR Professional
The second half of our program will bring it home to New Jersey. Specifically, we will discuss the status of marijuana legalization efforts in the state and what that may mean for employers. We will also discuss the prevalence of employment lawsuits in which individual supervisory employees – including HR professionals – are sued in their personal capacity. The program will cover why HR professionals may find themselves in the crosshairs, the claims for which HR professionals can be held personally liable, and best practices for avoiding liability.
